Randy Hoerschgen has been a mediator for the past 15 years. He describes mediation as an unique opportunity for parties to resolve their dispute with the assistance of an experienced mediator, while designing a resolution that meets the individual interest of each party. Randy first used mediation while serving as a school social worker and became very fascinated with mediation and alternative dispute resolution and decided to open his own firm (DecisionOne). Randy was later asked to serve on the state board in Missouri for the Association of Missouri Mediators. He was later nominated to serve as the first executive director of the association. Randy and his family relocated to the New Orleans, Louisiana area in 2009, where he served as a federal mediator. He then served as a federal mediation subcontractor for a Washington, D.C. firm and maintains a federal security clearance as required for entering federal offices nation-wide. Randy then directed mediation programs in Oklahoma and served as an adjunct professor at Cameron University. Randy has mediated cases in 24 states, including insurance litigation, labor disputes, employment law, personal injury, family law, wrongful death, and various other civil disputes. Randy earned his B.S. degree from Indiana University, majoring in behavioral science and business, a M.A. degree from California State University in negotiations, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding, and attended the master of laws program (LL.M.) at the University of Missouri School of Law. He completed various mediation certifications at Northwestern University, the University of Michigan, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Missouri. Randy primarily uses the facilitative model of mediation, but also uses directive, evaluative, transformative and med-arb.
